Pry it from the soil,
The weed, coiled, stinging your skin
Feed it to the flame
To purge, tame, turn outside in
Pull feather from wing,
In sloth, singe, fleeing the flare
Liberate a sin
From loss, win, discordant care
Gaze into the pool,
O' lost fool, seeking a glimpse
Drown it through the lake
Rebound, sake, fall to a wince
Bind it in a bow,
From friend, foe, aching to take
No more can it give
A ghost, with wounds in its wake
Rend it into ash
The whip, lash, yearning to salve
Grasp out into dark
Alas, lark, skywing and laugh
Find it in the soil
A seed, toil, mending the break
Usher moths to flame
From whence came, yet more to take
Penned by my hand on the 24th of Aeguary, in the year 824 AF.
