No Charge

I warmed my hands before a cheery blaze
He tossed on a log, and then a few more.
"This feels so good! Thank you so much," I said.
"No problem," he replied.

In a flash her expressionless face came alive.
Turning to me, she sketched runes on my skin.
"Can I pay you for your inks?" I asked.
"No charge," she said.

Blind and on fire in a dungeon,
Foolishly lacking the vials I needed;
They rushed in with gifts and instructions.
I thanked them profusely.
"You're welcome," they said.

Surrounded by friends in a balcony green,
A feeling of bliss from my head to my feet,
I said, "How could I ever repay what you've done for me?"
They laughed and said, "We love you too."

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Mayan, in the year 735 AF.
