The Western Ithmia

Written by: Marisella Yuridja-Keyte, Prophet of the Thorn

Addressed to: Everyone

Nestled amongst towering elms and oaks,
An indomitable presence to the curse of men,
I bore witness to moments of history,
When great spears of iron rose to form
Sterile forts of mortal greed.

Within my embrace, I sheltered well
Upon hallowed earth deep underground,
A yew tree born of great destiny.
From sturdy trunk came Divine birth
An embodiment of Nature's wrath.

In selfish abuse and rampant expansion,
Long have I lingered and observed,
An ancient guardian of the natural world
Warding against the sins of men.

When the vitality of mortal ken wanes,
Civilisations that rose will eventually fall.
But here I will remain, a timeless existence
One aspect of Nature refusing to be silenced.

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Phaestian, in the year 732 AF.
