Forwards

Forever forwards, whatever the cost.
For those who turned back, for those who were lost.
For those who fell bloody, for those who fell fair.
For those who lost everything, this burden we bear.

We walk ever forwards into the dark night.
We walk ever forwards through fire and light.
We walk where those who fear naught daren't tread.
We walk the lands that fill others with dread.

We find our way forwards, or make our own path.
We mind not the rabble, we fear not their wrath.
The lords of these lands mean little to us.
For their claims of ownership we have not a fuss.

We've moved on before they remember our names.
We haven't the time, the patience, for games.
We seek the truth that the world seeks to hide.
We do what we can, as a matter of pride.

The world lay before us, untamed and aware.
For our hopes and our dreams, she has not a care.
We wander these roads as the miles 'come years.
We wander these roads, despite terrors and tears.

Forever forwards, whatever the cost.
For those who turned back, for those who were lost.
For those who fell bloody, for those who fell fair.
For those who lost everything, this burden we bear.

A thousand new roads, a thousand new sights.
A thousand new faces, a thousand new frights.
Memories we'll cherish, of sea and of sky.
Memories that'll haunt us 'til the day that we die.

It matters not what we do on this day.
Matter not the faces we meet on the way.
The journey is all, the end ne'er in sight.
This journey we walk in darkness and in light.

This burden a blessing, this burden a curse.
This knowledge is ours, for better and worse.
We carry this weight and we walk on the same.
We have not the time for fortunes or fame.

Forever forwards, whatever the cost.
For those who turned back, for those who were lost.
For those who fell bloody, for those who fell fair.
For those who lost everything, this burden we bear.

At long last our travels have come to an end.
We have found that long sought just past the riverbend.
This burden we bear is now over and gone.
No longer in vain, each for whom we carried on.

So now I lay here, my arms 'cross my chest.
And now I do fade into my final rest.
Forwards forever, no matter the cost.
To carry our knowledge, for those we had lost.

For them, we endured, we saw through the pain,
To ensure their sacrifice was not in vain.
A duty entrusted to we who stood strong,
Who now rest surrounded by eternal song.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Sarapin, in the year 731 AF.
