If only I could, but I can not.
I certainly would, but I will not.
Whether I should? This I know not.
The one thing I know, I know not.
I cannot make the moments that make me,
Nor can I break the bonds that break me,
So how can I love those who love me
When I cannot control that which controls me?
In the dark I feared the light,
In the day I yearned for the night,
In the wrong and it felt so right,
As I pushed away a future bright.
I turned my back on those that mattered,
Words exchanged and friendships shattered.
Soon after to discover that by Evil I'd been flattered,
And to try to repair my heart so battered.
I search and I wander and a look and I learn
Thinking always of those I did spurn
On the regular, tears fell and my stomach did churn
And always, for my home I did yearn.
Of my sin I am reminded, by this Gods-forsaken brand,
But of late I realized, and I've taken a stand.
So now, here I am with my heart in my hand.
All I wish is to return to my homeland.
If you accept, a joyous occasion it be,
Before you I will be seen on bent knee,
If ye deny, then the man that you see
Shall stand behind you, because that's just me.
Penned by my hand on the 16th of Valnuary, in the year 713 AF.
