Lazy Lizard

There lives a lazy lizard,
Perhaps you know the one?
Past Sorcerer Guild wizard,
No task of his is done?
Spends the years talking in boughs
Joins to you at the hip.
(Tell yourself you'll not fall down;
Merely a little trip.)
Speaks his mind but always true
While using insane tones.
But also snuggles up to you
And mends your broken bones.
Forces you to gaze and stare
Into his golden eyes.
(Take his hand now if you dare;
He'll smile to your surprise.)
Interrupts your hunting spree
You blow off steam (or try!)
Tells you why he isn't free,
And the moment passes by.
Strain a smile and hide the pain.
He's happy, is not he?
And best friends you still remain
(Love unconditionally.)
Return back to your roots at last
The best way you know how.
Kicks himself for what he passed
Too late he tells you now.
Lets his pent-up anger burn
When you won't come around.
Does not wait for you in turn
And jumps into rebound.
Now he goes for number four
He likes an easy kiss.
Forgets the years it took before
For one pure touch of bliss.
All-or-nothing girls don't stay
When fickle is the plan.
They aren't much for pretend or play,
As is common in a man.
If this lizard you've not met,
Be glad you've never spoken.
For I wish I could forget;
More than these bones have broken.
Penned by my hand on the 22nd of Mayan, in the year 695 AF.
