Not a poem, a song! Know the tune? Sing along!

Children of Ceylon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the truth is told, and our hearts grow cold,
and the gods all flee, when our souls are sold.
When the hates prevail, and the love grows stale,
and the worst of all, are the hopes that fail.
I want to hide our youth, I want to undo truth.
But with this seed inside, there's nowhere left to hide.
No matter what our creed, we still all hold that seed.
It was our father's hate, It was our mother's fate.
When you fear our breed, look into our eyes.
It's where his hate's denied, that's where her love reside.
Don't get to close, It's dark inside.
It's where his hate's denied, that's where her love reside.
With the last bird's call, and with winter's fall,
when the stars fade out, all the mortals crawl.
So they dig our grave, their own souls to save.
They come calling out, at mistakes we've made.
Don't want to let you down, but we are hell bound.
Though we protect our youth, we can not hide this truth.
No matter what our creed, we still all hold that seed.
It was our father's hate, It was our mother's fate.
When you fear our breed, look into our eyes.
It's where his hate's denied, that's where her love reside.
Don't get to close, It's dark inside.
It's where his hate's denied, that's where her love reside.
They say it's what we make, but it was Maya's fate.
It's woven in the soul, it's seed will not let go.
Our eyes, they shine so bright. To live, we begged that right.
We can't escape it though, no one the path could show.
When you fear our breed, look into our eyes.
It's where his hate's denied, that's where her love reside.
Don't get to close, It's dark inside.
It's where his hate's denied, that's where her love reside.
