Lonely Star

How quickly kindling did advance
Your flames began to lick.
You knew how much I love to dance
Such a clever trick.

Entranced by your wondrous light
I basked in you with joy.
But you did set and then came night
Showing the crafty ploy.

You with warm, inviting rays
Me with sun-kissed skin
But then I sat and wept for days
Such a fool to let you in.

Blinded by bright gleaming gold
I burn when all is done.
I should have known for I was told
You cannot shine on only one.

I will remain down here below
You'll stay alone above
Where I dance you cannot go
For you know not how to love.

Penned by my hand on the 2nd of Ero, in the year 693 AF.
