The Cycle
Summer warmth to autumn grey,
Winter chill to springtime gay.
All that was shall come anew.
This I know, for this is true.
Stone erode and metal rust,
Cities rise and fall to dust.
Mountains crumble, oceans rise,
All that lives shall surely die.
If 'cross the land should darkness fall,
Then light shall sear away the pall.
Nothing lingers, naught shall last,
All beauty fades into the past.
Should fate decree Reborn too late,
Do not despair but patient wait.
That which was shall come again,
Though mortal man cannot know when.
Darkest night to longest day,
Come what will, come what may.
Withered flowers shall bloom anew.
This I know, for this is true
Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Aeguary, in the year 638 AF.
