When the World Comes at You

When the world comes at you,
you feel lost in a sea
of torment and anguish,
chained to the burden
of your emotions.
Shredded and dismembered
by the trauma you face,
and the choices you make
come back and destroy you.

When the world comes at you,
there's nowhere to run,
and hiding in fear,
will only make it hurt more.
Death and despair,
won't save you from this,
as you lie in your own blood
and ask why this all happened.

When the world comes at you,
you can cry till you're empty,
and your heart stops beating
from the world's twisted hand.
You can stand on your feet
or fall on your knees
but when the hourglass turns
your time here is done.

When the world comes at me
I will shed no more tears,
I will great Mother Maya
and extend my hand.
I will wipe off my blood,
and patch up my scars,
I will smile and greet her and say
"That was fun."

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Scarlatan, in the year 605 AF.
