Transfixing flame, everburning,
what shadows have you cast?
What secrets are you keeping close?
From the present and the past?

Constant flame, like a mirror,
Reflecting our deepest wishes,
What lures us to your rebirth,
Adventure, gold or kisses?

Burning flame, ever searing,
What souls have you embraced?
What sins have you wiped clean?
And what stains have you encased?

Eternal flame, ever sought,
What desires have you granted?
From thieves, liars and holy men, and,
Did they get what they truly wanted... ?
