Hidden, here, behind the curtains,
I've never felt so uncertain
In being right up on the stage,
Stepping out from my birdcage.

Is it nerves or something else
That shakes the faith in my own self?
I've practiced hard and practiced long,
For this one day to share my song.

Yet hands still shake with my stage fear,
Would my mask hold or will it tear?
While sunk in thoughts of my demise
The velvet curtains begin to rise.

As my eyes beheld the audience,
My heart fills with emotions, rife.
For I know then tis' my true calling:
An artist I am; a Bardd for life.

~~

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Mayan, in the year 587 AF.
