The night sky

All there is to you is simply white on black,
You're all I care for as I lie on my back.
There are people dying and living and more besides,
But theres nothing quite like it for what it provides.
It makes me feel so small and insignificant yet,
I find that by watching you I lose all wish to regret.
Past lovers and mothers and family and more,
Compared to you each is simply a chore.
The blades all around me whisper in my ears,
Doing nothing but adding to my unnecessary fears.
But my heart is at ease and my fears kept at bay,
My eyes lost in your depths as I quietly lay.
I care not for the sun or its burning rays,
I'd rather have you than any number of days.
The wind nips at me with a rush of cold,
Yet I won't be moved and I'll remain bold.
Until the day comes at last I'll lie here with you,
For you won't forsake me and will always be true.
However hearts change quickly and I'm just the same,
Despite how you'd feel, I'd know no shame.
I'm sure that if there was one that I did love,
I could fly up there and take one of yours from above.
Though that would likely leave a bigger hole in that expanse,
I'd still go for it if I had the chance.
Penned by my hand on the 8th of Mayan, in the year 586 AF.
