Seashells

Seashells

Bring the conch to my ear
Hear
The waves of the ocean
A notion
Of tranquility and vast serenity-
Centuries
Of unending ebb and swell.

It humbles me and washes away
The ache
Of loss, and the broken glass shards
Sharp
And scraping cuts onto a heart unbeating
Unfeeling
Though the saltwater seeps into the wounds.

The fragile shells crack into a mosaic.
My prosaic
Words fail to describe the sensation
But patience!
The heart unmoved still appreciates
The taste
Of beauty and the great majesty of the ocean.

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Mayan, in the year 584 AF.
