Poetry Appreciation


So nice to hear your touching concern
About the state of our words and art
And if you find your head's come loose
It might be due to a lack of heart!

Have heart, my dear! The words will run
Like tears, oh so dramatic of us
Apologies for ruining your day
With things like "emotion", what a fuss!

Such fuss to be made by those who write
Of smashing faces into walls
(That sounds quite nice, give it a try?
Might even get a tour of Maya's Halls!)

Oh Canonised one, would you enlighten
Us poets of how the art should be?
Please tell us, in litres, the amount of blood
An engaging poem ought to need!

So if you're willing to provide the tools,
I'll gladly write a eulogy
Just hand me some bowls of blood and gore
And exciting words, you'll be sure to read!
