After the demise of the EarthMother, the forests were held in a
precarious balance. The nine spirits of Nature brought forth from
themselves a nature spirit which guarded the forests from harm. Urania,
the spirit of the Darkenwood, warned that the spirit would not last
forever, and it seemed that she was right.
On a day that seemed to shake the very fabric of the world, the three
remaining monoliths in the abandoned Temple of Gaia crumbled to pieces.
Druids and Sentinels alike, most notably the Druidess Catlynne, received
visions of a tangled wood and intense pain. A light appeared above the
Aureliana and the Druid Eldren discovered a pathway into a new forest
called the Aerinewild.
Jallah, the eldest Druid, spoke of a rare coriandar flower and Vixen,
the Wilderness Guide, of a mortar and pestle. The Sentinel Tranox
discovered both of these items, and they were taken to the Druid Ranthal
who ground them into a paste. It remained to be seen what the purpose of
the paste was.
Urania, the Spirit of the Darkenwood, spoke with two Sentinels Merlin
and Landon, and showed them the way to use the paste and turn it into a
liquid. They took that knowledge to Catlynne, and with the help of the
Druidess Aelyn, created the soothing grove rain that filled the mortar
and mixed with the paste. Finally, a liquid is revealed to be inside the
mortar, and the process moved forward.
As the information was being given to Merlin and Landon, the Druids
Conor and Slie and the Druidess Aelyn received visions unlocking the
cairn stone in the Aerinewild. The Druidess Aelyn was the first to say
the phrase, and discovered a lost temple to a woman named Demeter. When
the liquid was brought to the temple and spoken about, it was thought to
heat the mortar on the campfire of a Sentinel. Landon created a
campfire, the mortar was dropped and after a few moments, a mist flowed
from the mortar and floated away to the Great Oak.
When the spirits were consulted, it was the mist itself that pleaded
with a group of Druids and Sentinels to collect the essences of the
forest. The nine sisters each had a seed. Collecting the Black Forest
essence was Astridd, the Western Ithmia was Aelyn, the Aalen Forest was
Deonymus, the Northreach was Trill, the Darkenwood was Mistie, the
Eastern Ithmia was Maklyr, the Northern Ithmia was Dannath, the
Aureliana was Jancis and Ulangi was Rout. Before the seeds could be
offered, however, Darkenwood was passed to Alkaisar and Ulangi to
Firefox. All the seeds were offered at the altar, in a ceremony led by
Kalleah, the Spirit of the Hazel.
After a time, it was revealed that a ritual was needed to bind the mist
into something and awaken the sleeping Goddess. In the end, the spirits
chose six people to complete the ritual - Jancis to represent the
Druids, Tallyn to represent the Sentinels, Kaisar to represent the
Lupines and Conor to represent the old way of the Gaian. To lead the
ritual were chosen Mysti and Emergo. An outpouring of love and support
rang from the confines of the temple of Demeter, and as the ritual
ended, the mist seemed to respond. It wrapped around the tree in the
Sacred Grove and the tree shook as though it did not want to release
what was inside of it. Emergo and Mysti placed their hands on the tree,
and in this gesture of love, the Goddess Demeter stepped from it.
The Druids and Sentinels await to see how the Green Lady will impact
their beloved forests, but for now they are safe within Her embrace.
Their love for the forests and for each other, were able to summon Her
from Her sleep. It is an example well-remembered for future generations.
