Hubrisian believed that he alone controlled the very power of the Night,
utilizing mysterious 'creatures' in order to maximize his power. As the
journal progressed, it revealed that a 'dream creature' had come forth
during his meditation, apparently in answer to his calls, promising to
obey him and assist him in his plotting. The 'device' apparently cycled
every two decades, and Hubrisian's rule was coming to an end as a
certain time approached. The next entry suggested that the natural cycle
had been interrupted, and Hubrisian remained in power. He was much
pleased and believed in his arrogance that his Divine Rule was confirmed
by this, and by his 'Herald siren' who stood subservient to him.

Alas, the final couple on entries revealed the depths of his folly, and
rewards of his arrogance, as he cursed the dream creature who had
trapped him within the temple, abandoning him to the other two factions
who rebelled against him, stripping the powers of the Night from him,
and laughing at his cries to destroy them. It seemed the entire dream
faction was cursed and destroyed for usurping the power of the Cult. And
yet, they were denied true death, instead their tortured shades haunting
the place of their demise. In the end, he begged forgiveness, cursing
the 'raven haired siren' that left them to their fate.

Though these revelations answered many questions, it created still more.
What was the 'Device'? Who was the mysterious Dream creature? Where was
the Device now? And what did the mysteriously encrypted code at the
front of the journal mean? Some hypothesized that the Device was hidden
behind the sealed door in the same room as the Journal, and a fearless
man who had been present from the beginning, Entreri, volunteered to
once more submit to death at his own hand, and walk as a spirit through
the door to search. Slaying himself, he stepped through into an empty
ceremonial chamber, alas finding naught within to give a clue, and was
soon returned to life by a druid who was observing the unfolding events
with interest.

Returning to think more on the code, the druid happened to think out
loud, mentioning 'Noxtra' which seemed to be a key word in the journal,
and wondering if it would help decipher the message. To the surprise of
those in the room at the time, one of the nine gems surrounding a
serpent adorning the great sealed door flicked momentarily, suggesting
that all gems may need to be activated to open the gate. Meanwhile,
several had recalled the presence of one Alp, called the Nightmare
siren, one of the children of Valnurana, seemed to fit the description
of the siren in the journal, and thus traveled there to speak with her.
She most calmly affirmed her role in the downfall of the cult,
remembering her accomplishment in bringing down the 'blasphemous,
prideful clerics' with obvious pleasure. One Kahless in particular
questioned her rigorously, and she eventually explained that in fact she
replaced the Device with a false replica that would always favour the
dream star, thus leading to the mutiny and fulfillment of the curse she
herself had arranged. Frustratingly however, she refused to speak of the
nature of the Device, only smiling secretly and reliving her glorious
'justice'

At the same time, one of those working on the decryption realized that
'Nox' meant night or darkness, and wondered if perhaps Teneb could be of
assistance. Arriving there, Teneb asked what he wanted, and Calla
Danial, the Seneschal of Hashan, was alerted. When asked about the code,
Teneb muttered about traitors, and seemed to be aware of its nature, but
refused to further comment. The unlikely pair, druid and Seneschal,
traveled then to the Darkenwood to seek out the assistance of Sharbrena,
the Cleric of Darkness. Upon arriving at Sharbrena, she too seemed to
know the nature of the numeric code but refused to speak on it, ordering
those not of her Father out of His grove. Only a dark serpent named
Synthesis remained, and to him Sharbrena suggested that the books in
Twilight's library be researched to discover the answer.

Synthesis was soon aided by Ciries Seir, and together they were able to
recognize the numeric code as the nearly lost Dark Alphabet. Hours were
spent pouring over the other books to decipher the cryptic message,
which appeared at first glance to be a sort of ritual. Believing that
they held the key to open the door, the two Darkwalkers returned to the
crumbling temple to recite their newly discovered knowledge. Tensions
rose in anticipation as the ritual was recited, but it was soon quelled
as only three of the gems on the door lit in response to the chant.
After several tries, it was discovered that the three words which seemed
to trigger the door were "Noxtra", "Lunastra", and "Somnustra", which
corresponded with the three stars that the cult appeared to rely on to
cycle their leadership. The researchers, frustrated once more, sat back
to think upon this new information.

Meanwhile, many had noticed the behavior of Kryvar take several odd
twists and turns. First he was interested in the new developments, and
then suddenly became nonchalant. Several times he would fall asleep and
lapse into another persona, waking to walk about and speak in mysterious
stories. During one such episode, he walked to the Crossroads and began
telling those present a story, as if he was teaching a class. The story
was a fable about a young serpent who traveled the Garden, seeking out
the six gods for a blessing on his house. Several of those present noted
the names of the six gods, and after Kryvar returned to his "normal"
state, the party traveled back to the temple. Vorn Lorenis, a young
Sorcerer, spoke the names of the six gods mentioned in the fable, along
with the three stars, and this proved to be the key which activated the
entire seal on the door and revealed the room to all. The Disc, however,
was nowhere to be found. Disappointed, those present were about to give
it up when Kryvar urged them to participate in a Dreaming at Volknore's
bones. This, he maintained, would give the participants a view of the
past enough to ascertain the location of the Disc.
