Stuffing his pockets with gumdrops and candied violets, Toby Treacletart took one final, pensive glance around the Treacletart Confectionery before preparing to leave Gorshire forever. Under the stern but loving eye of his mother Conteza, he promised to be careful, to avoid strange men under bridges, to not drink, to not smoke, to not besmirch the revered and honourable name of Treacletart, and of course, to write every day no matter what.
With a kiss on the cheek and a tear in her eye, the Treacletart matriarch bid her son good luck and watched with a mixture of pride and resignation as Toby took his leave, his mission begun: to become a famed adventurer, and see the world!
Emerging from Lodi onto the Raphaelan Highway, Toby's first day as an adventurer was marked with trial and tribulation - an encounter with a wolverine, and a furtive, albeit silent, fence, had left him shocked. It was fortunate, then, that Lynara Le'Dominae and a band of experienced Achaeans arrived to save the day.
To Certimene went the young gnome, proudly taking up the Magi class, and as he and Lynara toured the cities of the world in search of a home, their troupe of companions grew and shrank with each leg of the six-day journey.
Exhausted after departing the Court of Shadows, Toby Treacletart took stock of all he had seen and heard about - the Bloodsworn and the Silverveil, the Chaos Court, the Viridian Charter, the Pillars of Silver and Steel, Wayward Heights, science and Darkness and alchemy, and even the Gardens of the Dryads. What a trip!
But he could only choose one.
And so it was that the Village of Eleusis eagerly inducted its first gnomish citizen, and Toby Treacletart enjoyed a well-earned rest, with many grand adventures yet to come.
Penned by My hand on the 1st of Aeguary, in the year 855 AF.
