Somewhere below the city of Hashan, a primal force stirred.

Unearthly wails shattered the firmament, enraged beyond perception, and all of Sapience shook as Hashani citizens heard the rabid sounds of scratching and clawing throughout their home.

Cracking and groaning, the earth between the city and the northern Ithmia began to split. Some could not believe what they saw: spectral hands rising from the crevice and clawing at the earth, widening the cracks with inexplicable strength until they became a chasm many hundreds of feet wide.

Then, almost as suddenly as they began, the wails lessened to but a whisper, and an unnerving quietude descended upon the city.

Summary: the Sunderlands now surround Hashan, separating it from the Ithmia.
