As dusk set upon the Jewel of the East and the city was granted
temporary respite from the light of the autumn sun, an angel appeared
just outside the city's gates. Summoning devotion users before him, the
angel explained his rank as a hierarch of Celestia, and informed the
city of a grave problem: a powerful barrier had been summoned between
the Prime Material Plane and Celestia, preventing guardian angels from
traversing the planes.
The hierarch implored onlookers to seek out an ancient relic, a sword
forged by the hands of the Even-handed Goddess and gifted to the ancient
Luminai. The relic, he said, was originally buried with Sahart, founder
of Shallam, to ward off a curse that was rumoured to cause his death.
With haste and a renewed sense of vigour, citizens began an urgent
search for information. Oghma, the city museum curator, was heard
lamenting the lack of documentation when recalling the ambiguities
surrounding the tale of Sahart's death. Though he held little
information of substance on the matter, Oghma recalled that the
founder's tomb was said to rest below the northwestern edge of the city
itself. For nearly a full month, citizens scoured the Jewel, searching
for some hidden entrance to the final resting place of Sahart.
Their efforts were in vain, and no entrance to the hidden tomb could be
found. Joy did come, however, in the form of Lady Miramar's herald,
Leylan, who had been scouring the Astraean archives. Amid dusty tomes,
he found a note from the Luminai to the then-Voice of Judgement and
Justice, informing her of the intention to remove the artefact from the
tomb and utilise it in a prison under construction in the far north.
Armed with this information, Prelates Draekar, Ferrous, and Halos led a
party to the north in search of answers, their destination: Tenwat
Prison. There, below the western cliffs surrounding the prison, they
found a hidden ruin guarded by the ghost of a templar knight. Bestowing
the ancient sword upon them, the templar urged the prelates to depart
and deal harsh Justice to the cursed prison and all who dwell within.
