Emergence of the Crimson Fang

A puzzling discovery was made earlier this year by the Ashtani explorers
Blujixapug and Cauthorn, who stumbled upon a number of large cages near
the harbour on the island of Shala-Khulia shortly after a Mhaldorian
ship, the TLS Black Wind, was observed departing the port.
Investigation found a number of slaves tasked with building a great pyre
deep within the rainforest, overseen by a priest called Sevet and a
woman named Jakda, both associated with a mysterious organisation called
the Cult of the Crimson Fang*.
Though the cultists evaded questioning and warned against the outsiders'
involvement, maintaining that they follow a powerful being known as
Ra'mah, naming him a god and Lord of the Jungle. The native Khish, too,
are familiar with Ra'mah, who reportedly roams the jungle in the
physical form of a massive red and black tiger.
The secular and religious leaders of Shala-Khulia's city proper remain
sceptical of the cult, though the temple overseer Kh'liosha was notably
relieved when Cauthorn and Blujixapug made efforts to bless the island
and slay the tiger that stalked the jungle. Not unexpextedly, Sevet and
Jakda were enraged by this action, bragging that the tiger's power would
return.
Later developments revealed that the cult held powerful allies. As word
of the cult's actions spread to the mainland, members of Eleusis, the
Ancient Circle of Druids, and the council of Oakstone arrived to observe
the clear-cutting occurring within the jungle. Taking aggressive action
with their allies, they were quick to learn that Mhaldor was willing to
defend this Cult of the Crimson Fang with its entire army.
When the first of the skirmishes cleared, many Mhaldorians found the
forests lashing out at them for their aid in Nature's destruction, with
heavy casualties from the opposition. It was the start of a violent
conflict that only grew as time progressed, but to what end?
*Historian's Note: "The Cult of the Crimson Fang", a name widely
believed to have been a cover, is an approximate translation from an ancient
language of the Inferno and is unrelated to the organisation known by the
name of "Crimson Fang" originating from the Plane of War.
Penned by My hand on the 13th of Phaestian, in the year 490 AF.
