A calm evening was washing over the close of the second day of
Scarlatan, 464 AF, as Havden, an elderly painter from Tasur'ke
approached the crossroads of Hashan with his granddaughter Lyhana.
Lingering at the city's centre was Sarieno Kindfire, a citizen of the
Crown, and Havden wasted no time in procuring his assistance in securing
passage on a ship headed for the distant island of Zanzibaar. Though he
did not own a ship himself, Sarieno offered his help to the painter,
certain he'd be able to locate a willing captain for the travellers.
Sarieno was soon joined by Laytron Rousseau, and Havden explained to the
pair that he and his granddaughter were looking for new and exotic lands
in which to ply their unique trades. Zanzibaar was the perfect place to
do so, he surmised, as it would also allow him and his growing
granddaughter to experience a new and exciting culture. It did not take
long for the two Hashani to obtain the services of a fellow citizen and
member of the Merchants of the Crown, Aviolana Lichlord, who accepted a
unique marionette crafted by Lyhana in exchange for skilfully delivering
them to Zanzibaar. There, they promptly set up for business in the
bustling city bazaar.
Several months later in late Lupar, a bedraggled fisherman named Tulath
was spotted in the town of New Thera, lost, confused, and very hungry.
Coming swiftly to his aid was the young Shadowsnake Caramia, who helped
the man to Ashtan for food and rest. As she and citymate Jaizsur Ta'sa
helped him recover and return to his seaside home of Ka'doloki, his
story unfolded. Early in the year, Tulath had set out on a fishing trip,
but was swept away by rough seas to the far north, where his boat was
smashed upon the rocks near the valley of Saoghal. He spent many months
trekking through the mountains, forests, and grasslands of northern
Sapience, until he finally found the highway that led him to New Thera.
What captivated the adventurers most about Tulath's story was the
mention of a small island off the coast near Saoghal, and a crew,
captained by Daeki, embarked from the Mysian harbour aboard the
Unnamable. Word of their mission spread quickly, however, and a second
ship soon set sail.
Navigating for days and nights through some of the toughest seas yet
encountered, both teams toiled to reach their destination until finally
the Aristeia's crew of Asara Eslofe, Inuad Stormsong, and Schisstae
Lighthawk docked at an island half-covered by an immense glacier. The
adventurers disembarked to discover two human settlements, and were
welcomed heartily by the villagers (some of them, at least!) as the
first visitors in hundreds of years to Eirenwaar Island.
Penned by my hand on the 16th of Ero, in the year 465 AF.
