The First Delosian Game

In the month of Mayan of the year 455 A.F., the first of the Delosian
Games was held, moderated by Tharos, the Announcer of Delos. With gold
prizes to the first to third place winners sponsored by the
aforementioned wealthy merchant-town, a different Game shall be held
annually henceforth, the nature of the competition ranging from riddles
to egghunts to FFAs to Quizzes and more! This first Delosian Game was a
seven-part riddle with an intriguing twist, and the first to solve it
was Saltaern, followed by Delphinus and Jaizsur. Congratulations to
these three, who won gold prizes of 50k, 25k, and 10k respectively.

A special prize was promised to the first place winner, and Saltaern
found himself the recipient of an unusual gift indeed -- a living
bejewelled scarab beetle, a rare creature precious beyond the reckoning
of mortal wealth. "The Gods often gather in the Garden, attended by
their immortal servants, to converse about various matters," explained
Tharos. "At times, for the sheer joy of shared creation, each God will
lend a tiny portion of His or Her essence and imagination to bring forth
into existence some thing entirely new and unique -- this could be a
flower, an insect, an amulet, a pearl, a statue, it could be anything at
all." And this scarab beetle, one of these minor co-creations, had been
granted by Them to the winner of this Delosian Game.

Congratulations to those who placed in this Delosian Game! All are
welcome to join the next one, next Mayan. A few matters of note: the
first place winner in any Delosian Game is automatically disqualified
from the next three Games. The second place winner is disqualified from
the next two Games. The third place winner is disqualified from the next
year's Game. Also, you may now find a plaque outside the walls of the
Matsuhama Arena in Delos which will contain the names of the first place
winner from each year's Game.

Penned by my hand on the 23rd of Mayan, in the year 455 AF.
