Death of a Peddler

Late in Chronos, 444 AF, a loud roar echoed through the peaks of the
southern Vashnar mountain range, to which adventurers quickly responded.
First on the scene were Sir Endall, Saidie Silverwind, and Inuad
Stormsong Cholla'Yi, gathering just outside the trail leading to Caer
Witrin. There, they discovered an old snow tiger standing guard over the
mutilated corpses of a draft horse and an elderly man, the splintered
remains of a wagon nearby.

More adventurers arrived, and the agitated snow tiger took off through
the mountains, dragging the horse with him and prowling through the
streets of Cyrene before returning to his normal hunting grounds.

Meanwhile, the druid-bard Moragaine, concerned about the elderly man's
corpse lying in the road, made her way into nearby Caer Witrin and
contacted Marianna, the perfumier. The man's body was taken to the town
mortuary with the assistance of Sir Vendros Sparrow-Fitzneale, and
Marianna agreed to prepare him for burial. Although she did not know the
man personally, she said she recognised him as frequent visitor to the
town, and pointed them in the direction of Frida, the painter.

The group of adventurers, which eventually grew to include Bryndenn,
Gnaash, Dumas, Finchy, Madelyne, and Goryllin, delivered the sad news to
Frida, and then to Anais, the ice-sculptor, another of the man's
customers. Both were dismayed at the man's fate, and revealed that
without the peddler's help, they would no longer accept commissions from
their customers, though they would continue to offer what wares they
could.

A funeral led by Dumas was held at the close of Mayan, interring the
unidentified peddler's remains in the Caer Witrin cemetery with a sombre
ceremony, his grave marked by a simple headstone.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Daedalan, in the year 445 AF.
