The return of Justice

Dark became the days following the blast that destroyed the Temple of
Justice. Grievously injured, Calanthia, High Priestess of Miramar, had
sunk into a deep coma. Many feared for the gods of Shallam whose essence
had been within the stolen decanter, especially the languishing Lady of
Justice. Attempting to rebuild what was lost, the Order of Miramar
inadvertently caused further ruination of their Temple when they did not
heed the advice of Moghedu. No clues surfaced as to the whereabouts of
Ator and the crystal decanter. Hope dwindled each day.
Then, six long months after the destruction, Calanthia awoke from her
coma. Though blinded permanently by the blast, the mhun girl encouraged
her Order to seek out her kin once more; she asked that they try to
clear the temple ruins. Despite or perhaps because of her new blindness,
she could feel something to the west that was linked to their goddess.
The ruins were cleared and indeed, the ruined Master Shrine of Miramar
was excavated there.
Calanthia along with others prayed out to Miramar to heal the shrine and
invoked the Goddess in their presence. However, pieces of the shrine
were missing: the Scales and Sword had been ripped away and tossed about
the Pash Valley nearby. Torain delivered the Scales, and Kard, the
Sword. With the pieces together, the shrine began to mend, but still,
more had to be done. Calanthia insisted that the fountain at the centre
of the ruined temple's courtyard must be cleaned. Kard removed the ashy
waters from the fountain while Carmell blessed the water. Once this task
was completed, the Master Shrine was restored to full strength. However,
the key to restoring Miramar still eluded their grasps, until...
The dark being whose hand had been behind the temple's destruction,
drunk on his own power, became overconfident. No longer caring who saw
him and holding aloft the crystal decanter he had stolen, he stalked
through the ruined corridors seeking the weakened Goddess of Justice. As
like calls to like, he was able to use the decanter to pinpoint the
location of the goddess, and it had led him here, to her recovered
Master Shrine.
A section of the temple crumbled to the ground from his seeking, and the
blind High Priestess Calanthia cried out warning of death and darkness.
Adventurers drawn to the ruins unexpectedly came face to face with none
other than Slith, Prince of the Undead Legions, and two of his
demi-liches. Death swiftly came for them. Altarius led the rallying
calls that began to echo across Shallam, Cyrene, and Eleusis to gather
to oppose Slith at the ruins of the Temple of Justice.
Prince Slith laughed in the face of the storm that besieged him in the
shattered offering room of the temple, and indeed, he and his two
minions at first laid waste to the lives around them. Despite their
strength, they could not withstand the large numbers for long, however.
Carmell was able to land the final blow upon Slith that forced him to
flee, and Aztecia Fuil'gra-Merre, a Leath-ri of Eleusis, scooped up the
decanter he dropped and willingly returned it to the Shallamese.
Thanking their gathered allies, the Astraean returned to the blind
priestess Calanthia who led them to the Master Shrine. Each received a
set of stones blessed by Justice and Judgement which were set into a
circle. A ritual began within the circle.
Just as a shimmering curtain of energy rose from the ritual circle to
block off access to the offering room, a surprise attack of Mhaldorian
forces swarmed in. The battle was long and bloody, confined within the
curtain of energy. Avery Storm slew Calanthia, and her companions
brought death to many of the supplicants within the room. Carmell lost
the decanter in the chaos, but throughout the majority of the fierce
battle, all ignored the decanter sitting upon the ground in the shadows.
Once the dust had settled, the offering room was held by the Astraeans
once more, as well as the decanter itself.
Hands shaking, Carmell spoke the words to open a path to their Goddess,
using an archaic language. After a false start, the spell succeeded and
the ritualists were transported to an unfamiliar place within shifting
desert sands, in a plane called Miranus. Korben quickly made his way
through the sands and was the first to happen upon their slumbering
Goddess.
The decanter began to glow when it was near Miramar, and Her children
pressed the cup to the Goddess. It disappeared into Her glowing form,
the remaining pure divine essence of the five gods of Good restoring Her
to full strength at last. Awakening, Miramar returned to the Prime
Material Plane with Her followers, calling out that Mhaldor and their
allies who attempted to bring about Her end would face Judgement. She
promised to Slith that his would be a bloody end.
Even though the Goddess of Justice is healed and the forces of Good have
redeemed themselves over the losses suffered during the Undead Raid of
Shallam, many questions are still left unanswered. Who is Ator, and from
whence did he come? What will become of the Ladies Lorielan and Tarah,
both of Whom are still tainted by the original contamination of Their
essence? Finally, the Idol of Corruption -- has it served its purposes
or will there still be something more to be seen of the foul effigy?
Only time will tell the answers to these questions and many more.
