Of Shipwrecks and Sailors

As night fell over the continent of Sapience, a large storm began to
brew off the coast of Ulangi. Huge storm clouds hovered over the small
island, bringing with it an oppressive atmosphere that scattered the
animals deep into the brush. The powerful storm gathered force over the
course of the evening; then as dawn rose, with a sudden flash of
lightning and booming of thunder, the heavens opened and soaked the
world below it.

The fury of the storm was witnessed in the small fishing village of
Shastaan, though in lesser magnitude than the elemental rage being
released on Ulangi. Many adventurers, having never seen a storm so
ferocious in recent years, headed to Shastaan. Offering aide as they
arrived, they quickly realized that the brunt of this powerful storm was
focused on Ulangi. A small group quickly boarded the Shastaan ferry and
rowed off to investigate any unnatural causes for this storm.

As they landed, the storm magnified into a full-blown hurricane. The
slender palm trees and sturdy island oaks shuddered and bowed beneath
the howling wind. Pelting droplets of rain slammed into the island,
creating flash floods that eventually led to a rock-slide, revealing a
small beach below the southern Ulangi cliffs.

As the storm drifted back out to sea, the first moans could be heard
from a shipwrecked crew of pirates marooned upon that small beach.
Laurelai was first on the scene, followed quickly by Zbaco, Imyrr,
Gregg, Taurelinde, Delphinus, Rahum, Vardoulacha, and many others. When
the half-drowned pirates finally regained their senses, they were
dismayed to discover that the hurricane had blown them off course. Their
boat lay shattered upon the reef that surrounds Ulangi, and many of
their shipmates had perished below the turbulent waves.

Upon questioning by the curious adventurers, the storm-dazed pirates
revealed that they originated from a port the adventurers had never
heard of. Soon thereafter, a strange ferryman rowed into sight, sent
over from the pirates' home port. Fearing for the citizens who had been
expected into port, the ferryman Cedric had rowed out and searched for
his missing comrades. Seeing the signs of a shipwreck, he had quickly
followed the floating pieces of wood and came upon the group on the
beach. Before anyone could say "Ahoy!", many adventurers palmed him gold
for his services and were ferried to the Port of Mysia, a
previously-hidden pirate port near Ulangi now open to all comers.

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Glacian, in the year 377 AF.
