It all began with the announcement of the monk tournament. Word of this
event spread across Sapience, and unknown to the event coordinator
Diamondesce, it even reached as far as other planes. Shortly after the
announcement, a cloaked man approached Diamondesce and offered his
services to assist with the Monk tournament. His only desires were that
she keep his involvement a secret and after the monk tournament ended,
that there would be a monumentous free-for-all.
Things progressed with the cloaked figure finally revealing his true
name to be Kaanvyr, of the Host. Kaanvyr suggested that the ceremony
that Diamondesce was to hold afterwards be held in the theatre in the
city of Delos. Preparations were made and the monk tournament ended with
such notable place finishers as Kir, Tenchu, Jupiter, Locus and
Diamondesce herself.
With the monk tournament concluded, it was time for the grand finale,
the World Free-for-all as it had come to be known as. Warriors flocked
to Delos from all corners of Sapience to try test their mettle against
all the warriors of the realm. Many were heard saying such things as
"This is the biggest free-for-all ever!" and "I don't think I've ever
seen this many people join a free-for-all". The event ran long and hard,
with some organizations deciding to try their luck working together
while others chose instead to work on their own. Finally, as more and
more warriors were slain, it came down to only three, Rangor Corten,
Guard of the Wilds, Landon Stormcrow and Kandor.
Animals howled and shrieked as these three Sentinels battled until only
Landon and Kandor remained. The epic battle raged, as the two fought,
keeping in mind the great prize that waited for the victor at the end.
In what some call a surprising upset, Kandor stepped from the portal
victorious and claimed the title of victor in the World Free-for-all.
The contestants and spectators then hurried to the Delosian Theatre to
begin the awards ceremony. The winners of the World event were presented
their awards first, followed by the winners of the monk tournament.
In-between each presentation, a intermission of song was performed
courtesy of a troupe of bards from the city of Cyrene, led by Linnia. As
the last song came to close, Diamondesce called Kaanvyr to the stage to
thank him for all his help, and that is when things got strange...
Kaanvyr walked onto the stage and went into an expected thank you speech
and congratulated all the winners and participants in the events. He
then surprised the masses by revealing his true form to be that of a
Scrula, a race that had not been seen since the Gods marched to war on
the plane of Nishnatoba. Kaanvyr then fell to a knee and spoke to what
seemed only himself and the air, declaring that even he was impressed
with the way things had proceeded and that all was prepared for "his"
return. Whispers rang out all over the theatre as many wondered who "he"
was until a disembodied voice boomed across the sky saying on, "Very
well. I come." This unnerved many, as the sky over Delos grew dark and
stormy, while inside the theatre a vortex of energy appeared on the
stage and a tall, slender and handsome man stepped forth.
Elation rose throughout the land as word passed like wildfire;
Matsuhama, God of Combat had come to Sapience. The God of Combat spoke
shortly at the ceremony, congratulating the winners and Diamondesce for
their work in the event and then retiring to the Garden of the Gods to
reaquaint himself with the Gods and to begin his exploration of
Sapience.
