Following the unfortunate demise of their messenger and with the
revelation that they had been carrying on an affair, the servants of
Lady Indrani and Lord Twilight went briefly into seclusion, refusing to
respond to any queries directed at them. Perhaps they hoped to avoid
punishment by their respective deities, or perhaps they simply wished to
plan their next course of action. What actually transpired, we may never
know, but after several months had passed Dusk appeared within the city
of Mhaldor.
There, he sought out mortals who might gain him an audience with the
Demon Queen Herself, risking Her wrath to fulfill the geas laid upon him
by Twilight. When finally he approached Her, pleading for both Her
forgiveness and Her aid in relocating the Obelisk, his requests were
flatly denied. One ray of hope remained for the mad Keeper, however:
should he manage to persuade the populace of Mhaldor and the followers
of both Herself and Lord Sartan that the move would be to their gain,
the Lady of Sin would give Her consent. Knowing that this would be a
near-impossible task, Dusk set forth, and he wanders the streets of
Mhaldor even now in an effort to complete his former Master's final
instructions and free himself of the burden upon his soul.
Will his efforts be in vain? Will the City of Evil and Sin enter a new
age and form an alliance with Darkness, or will Mhaldor remain fiercely
independent and reject the entreaties of the Lord of Deception's
servant? It would seem that only the inhabitants of that baleful place
will decide the outcome, and the path their city's future will take,
though many questions remain unanswered and tensions have begun to rise.
Penned by my hand on the 18th of Ero, in the year 341 AF.
