... of the Quest System!
As promised in my last post, Nicola and I have been relentlessly toiling to improve XP gains for questing and I'm pleased to report that phase one is complete!
In the last two days, we've gone through some eight hundred quests and applied the new XP standards where appropriate. Specifically, for a refresh, this means:
- All quests that involve turning in corpses, unless they are particularly difficult or special, no longer provide XP rewards, as the XP is gained while killing the denizen in the first place.
- All other quests have been entirely integrated into the new XP reward system, and in almost all cases have received an increase of anything from 5 - 100 times more experience on completion.
- You will find that quests reward XP proportionate to your level and the intended level of an area you're questing in. Thus, you're rewarded more for questing at-level then you will be for questing in areas below your stature (though you'll still get something!).
- The reverse case is also true: questing as a low level character in a high level area will reward you based on your own personal stature and won't allow you to be carried through by higher level players to get levels faster (so don't waste your time trying it!).
- In addition to this, there are a number of new honours lines available for those with the wiles to find them!
The following areas may be of particular interest for those with a penchant for questing: (note that this isn't exhaustive, and as above, EVERY area that has quests in the quest system now follow the new reward structure).
- Annwyn
- Arcadia
- Bagwar's Copse
- Blackrock
- Moghedu
- Riparium
- Squall Cleft
- Tir Murann
- Yggdrasil (all 30+ areas)
Thus ends phase one. Phase two will see us integrating another large swathe of quests into the quest system proper, applying new XP standards, making fixes, and polishing where appropriate. Expect news on this before the end of the month!
