October! It's going to be big!

As you're now all aware, the Black Wave is returning to Achaea! To coincide with this iconic moment in Achaea's history, we'll be running a themed promotion through October, much like we did with the Conclave event for those familiar.

For every 100 credits purchased, you will receive one talisman piece. For each 500 credits purchased, you'll receive an additional piece (so 1000 credits would get you 12 pieces, 500 would get you 6 pieces, 400 would get you 4 pieces). This is retroactive, so you can purchase 200 credits for 2 pieces then 300 credits later and receive 4 pieces. Pieces for what though? I hear you ask. Why, pieces for the new Black Wave set, of course!

This set combines both old artefacts (with custom Black Wave descriptions) with some new high end talismans. Here's the list:

Existing themed items:

Taper of eternity, valued at 50 credits.
A ring of finality (signet ring), valued at 50 credits.
A grievous keyring (serpentine keyring), valued at 100 credits.
A blank and bantam goblin (minipet with a twist).
A subjectioner's spigot (a Sot's spigot), valued at 400 credits.
Sunless hope (a prismatic ring), valued at 600 credits
Vakha's bribe (a circlet of determination), valued at 850 credits.
Pedigree's jewel (gem of transmutation), valued at 1000 credits.
An experimenter's grimoire (grimoire of hasty adaptation), valued at 2000 credits.

New items:

A canopic jar:
Ever feel that deffing up is a lot of effort and beneath your magnificence? The Tsol'teth certainly do. You can CLASP this jar to store your current defences for your current class, then OPEN JAR at any time to restore those defences. Note that the defences are stored on a class by class (or classless!) basis.

Additionally, note that this is a convenience artefact only. Some defences are excluded (anything with a cooldown, windup, or other form of cost), and if you discover a way that this will help you in combat expect that to be changed.

Clasping additionally is aggressive, so you'll be unable to store defences such as rebounding/shield/reflections, etc. If you discover a defence that can't be stored that you feel should be storable, feel free to suggest it to me! OPENing the jar also requires you have full health and mana and carries a 5 minute cooldown. This cooldown is per person not per jar.

An apperception stone:
A popular artefact among the Tsol'teth, this stone allows you to GAZE INTO <stone> FOR <person>, to look into a person's room as if you were standing directly alongside them. Note that a shimmering orb present on the ground will utterly thwart your efforts, as the obscuring powers are beyond even this artefact. Gazing takes 4 seconds of (modifiable) equilibrium.

Revelation's guise:
This talisman serves two purposes. First, it functions as a deathmask artefact (with a different deathsight, of course). Second, during the night (while being worn) it will gain charge. This charge may be expended by BREATHE MIASMA. Doing so will cause everyone in the location to deliver a final strike when slain, causing damage to everyone else in the location. Note that this shall not trigger itself--if player1 kills player2 with the retributive strike, player2 shall not deliver a retributive strike of their own. That way lies madness! However, for each strike that happens in a room, the next one is increased in power. Think of the possibilities!

The mantle, suremekh'neina:
This formidable artefact is rare indeed. While wearing it, it conveys a level 3 regeneration bonus to the wearer's health and mana. Obviously, this still respects the standard regeneration caps. Sorry runewardens, you shall not be achieving level 4 health regeneration this day.

So, that's the Black Wave talisman set. Its great and all, but there's more.

For those very few of you that complete this set in its entirety, you will receive a bronze feretory. This feretory shall not open until some time in November. So why should you care?

Inside said feretory are three (three!) artefacts, totalling 1500 credits in worth. That's pretty great on its own, but there's something special about said artefacts. They are for a class, but not for any class yet seen in Achaea to date. Make of that what you will!

So. What if you're one of those people who couldn't care less about talismans. We've got you covered.

You can trade in any talisman piece for 1/2 of that piece's value. So take the grimoire of hasty adaptation for instance. That's a 2000 credit artefact, and it takes four pieces (like with all talismans in this set) to finish it. So each piece has a base worth of 500 credits, so trading in just one of these pieces will net you 250 credits on top of your standard purchase! I can safely say this is probably one of the best deals we've ever ran in terms of getting your money's worth.

But what if I don't want credits either! Well, I'd say you're a tough customer, but we've got an answer for that too! The wheel of fortune will be making the rounds again this month, but with some additions to the lineup of items to attract your gambling attentions. Here's the highlights:

- Consumables, ranging from minerals to lifestones.
- Credits
- Lessons
- Artefact discount vouchers.
- Permanent tattoos.
- Racetrack tickets.
- Raffle tickets.
- An amber ampoule
- A smoked glass flask.
- Artefacts, anywhere up to 500 credits in value!
- Atavian wings (valued at 2000 credits!) if you're one of the really lucky people.

You'll note that raffle tickets have been added to the lineup. These tickets will go into a global raffle which will get drawn at the end of October. The winner shall get their choice of either a fully kitted out ship or a roll of 15 Mayan crowns. The second place winner shall get whichever one the first place winner elects not to take. In addition, every raffle ticket will net you 2 bound credits at the end of the month, so even if you don't win, your gains could be substantial!

The amber ampoule is a consumable item to be used in conjunction with the miniature goblin minipet found in the talisman set.

Each ampoule will contain a sample of material collected from the various races of Achaea, and can be broken over the minipet. This will cause the goblinoid to take on various traits of the featured race.

The ampoules can be TURNed in order to cycle between 3 races. These 3 race choices will alter throughout the month. BREAK AMPOULE <minipetID> in order to alter the creature.

The smoked glass flask is an artefact version of the amber ampoules, it can also be turned to change which race it will feature. The race choices will accumulate as the new ampoules are made available. SHAKE FLASK <minipetID> to utilise this strange item.

We think there's something for everyone this October, and we hope you do too! To get your credits and talisman pieces head over here:
