Achaean News
a warning

A couple days ago, a character in Achaea was illegally hacked into.
The hacker, like most hackers, was happily incompetent and it was
childs play for me to track down who did it. However, more serious,
this same hacker used the same technique to break into the victim's
e-mail account.
The method by which this is done is that a program is mailed to you,
which is a .exe file. It will only run in windows. I believe it's
called "netbus" or something similar. Essentially what happens is
that once you run the program, the little shit hacker can control
your computer (if you're online) and look through your files, for
passwords, etc. He tried it on me, but I am wary of these little
pests, and it didn't work (I wasn't going to run a program that was
sent to me by someone I didn't know, obviously).
In any case, I post this simply to warn you of the danger. The netbus
program was claimed to be some maps of Achaea (a pathetic lie, as
maps do not come in .exe format). NEVER run a program that is sent
to you was a) sent by someone you know (make sure you talk to the
person in case someone has hacked your friends e-mail account), and
b) you know exactly what it is.
If you'll permit me to stand on my proverbial soapbox for a moment
here, I'd just like to say that I don't like hackers. If I find out
that you tried to hack anything related to Achaea, I will come down
on you like a sack of bricks. Traditionally, hackers were intelligent
people who simply want to learn more about computers. Nowadays, we
have little shits with all the maturity of 8 year olds, who are too
incompetent to create, so they try to destroy. They should be shunned
and mocked like the worthless guttersnipes they are.
