Ships, Weapons, and Loads (Ammunition)

Things to load into ships' weapons are now available. Go forth and sink
one another, or just scare one of your pals to death with a few well
placed shots across his bow!
The Weapons
-----------
- onager (a catapult, with longest range and capacity),
- ballista (a sort of huge crossbow with moderate range)
- Arcanian arm (not unlike a very large clay pigeon launcher;
extremely short range)
The Loads (things you LOAD the weapons with)
---------
For onagers: chain-shot to damage enemy sails, star-shot to damage
adventurers on deck (possibly denizens later), and flares for signalling
and colourful fun.
For ballistas: shafts or darts. These shafts/darts can cause leaking in
the hull for bonus damage not unlike bleeding in adventurers.
For Arcanian arms (aka throwers): boarding decks (used for forced
boarding), flares, and wardiscs, which are also fairly painful to those
standing on decks, but not as effective as star-shot.
Lathis and PK rules
-------------------
Look for a statement from Lathis coming soon relating to any
clarifications or expansions to PK-related issues because of these
updates.
About Forced Boarding
----------------------
It's possible, but tricky. Your target almost has to cooperate, in that
it should be sitting still, and let you get very close. Movement messes
that up pretty easily, both by increasing range, and making the target
much much harder to hit. The sea has to cooperate too. If the seas are
not calm, you can forget boarding. It also costs a substantial amount of
damage to your own ship's hull each time you create a new boarding deck.
In the unlikely event that you are forceboarded, almost certainly
because your captain simply couldn't be bothered to do the slightest
thing to avoid the eventuality, then you can always escape by using a
Token of Charybdis, if you must.
