A change related to defenses/resistances, esp related to stacking

We're putting in a change to how multiple resistances, or defs,
interact.
Till now, combinations of these defs could be amazingly potent.
The resistance affected include:
- resistance rings - racial resistance/weakness
- staves - algiz rune - dazzling - scales
- skins (stone, etc) - viridian resistance
- demon armour - putrefaction - kaido toughness
- earth/thermal/frost/charge etc shields
- venom elixir - high/true favours
There may be a couple I've missed, but I think that's about it.
This does not count armour, which is handled separately.
For those with only a couple of defenses active at once, these changes
will not make much of a difference in the damage you take.
The more you combine, and the stronger defs that are involved, the
bigger the difference.
It would probably be wise to avoid being in places where you are relying
most heavily on your multiply stacked and very strong defs (note: mages
with diamond/stone skin!) until you are sure how this
will all play out.
This is all part of the process of trying to reduce extreme effects of
both offensive combinations of enhancements and defensive combinations
of resistances. It's an ongoing process! It's not done yet by any means.
We're monitoring very carefully and will doubtless make many more
related changes soon.
The thing we're doing is really quite simple - we're changing it so that
changes are multiplied one by one, rather than added first. This is the
exact opposite, logically, of what we did with enhancements, logically
speaking, but will have precisely the same results: more extreme values
will be reduced.
Thanks again to Achaean Combat Council, Achaean Leaders, and the many
who have made such helpful suggestions on these and related matters.
Also to those who have helped during the testing of these changes, you
know who you are (mostly, you are bearing my favour at present!) and you
have my thanks.
Penned by my hand on the 5th of Aeguary, in the year 467 AF.
