A new position

When I met with a bunch of you recently for a couple hours, we talked
about a lot of things, but the underlying current I heard was, "We'd
really like to see more roleplaying." I frequently hear the same thing
on the forums and when I talk to you individually.
The thing is, of course, that we can't make you roleplay. We're not
going to run around the world like police looking to hand out
tickets/punishments to people who aren't roleplaying. I'm just not down
with regulating how people act so strictly.
So first off, you guys have to hold up your end of the bargain. If you
want more roleplay, than do it! Do it without any reward but the
roleplaying, as if that's not the reward, what's the point?
Having said that, perhaps there's more we can be doing to assist and
facilitate. By way of that, I've created two new part-time paid
positions today in Achaea: Assistant Producer for Roleplaying. Ourania
and Valnurana have accepted the positions and will be starting soon!
Their job description reads:
"As Assistant Producer for Roleplay, you will help to ensure the
continuous flow and evolution of the roleplay and storylines within the
world of Achaea, in order to promote overall game dynamism and the
immersive appeal of a changing environment open to influence via
interaction.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: working with other
staff and volunteers to prepare and carry out roleplay story scenarios;
extemporaneous roleplayed interaction with the playerbase; assisting in
the continuous development of a cohesive world background, history, and
mythos; and content creation, such as writing scripts, summaries, or
promotional material for roleplay events."
Further, Valnurana will be assistant Maya and Clementius with some
customer support work, while Ourania will continue to manage building.
I'm pretty excited about this, and I know Valnurana and Ourania are both
thrilled to be given the opportunity. It's hard to make any specific
promises about what difference they will make, as we've never done this
with dedicated, paid positions before, but let's try to give it a few
months before we start throwing around judgements (though of course, I'm
always willing to accept judgements like, "Damn that Sarapis is seksay."
or "Sarapis, your sandals are sure looking fine today!").
That's it for now. Enjoy!
Penned by my hand on the 11th of Scarlatan, in the year 440 AF.
