about messaging. Especially RM and DM.

RM and DM especially have become a bit of a mystery to some in
the new messaging system. Let's go over what they should do, and
a bit about how messaging works now.

Messaging Numbering
-------------------
Formerly, when you got a new message, it was always a new number,
higher than all previous messages you ever got, unless you
cleared all messages. So if you got messages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5,
and then deleted 3, 4, and 5, and then got a new one, it'd be 6.

Now, if you get messages 1-5, delete 3-5, and then get a new
message, what number will it be? If you guessed 3, move to the
head of the class!

The Mysteries of RM
-------------------
RM remembers the message you last read or dealt with. So let's
say you get messages 1-5 and delete 4 and 5. Fine. Now you get
a new message. That new message is number 4. Fine.

RM tries (first) to keep reading from where you left off. So if
you left off at 5, it'll look for 6 and up. If there is no
message up there, above where you left off, it'll look for the
first UNREAD message, no matter what number it is, and start
reading there.

The results could have you bouncing around a little, but they
do make sense. Or should.

Further Mysteries: DM
---------------------
DM: to delete the 'current' or perhaps next, and possibly even
previous, message!

DM tries to delete the current message you just read. If it
doesn't find that message, ok, it looks for later messages.
If there are no later messages, then DM deletes backwards,
going down from the last message. So if you have messages
1 through 5, and read, say, message 4, then try DM, then
number 4 is deleted. That's because you just read 4. Now if
you enter DM again, what is deleted?

If you answered 5, move up again. Now, what if you enter DM
yet again? Well, there's no message 6, so now it goes back
to look for something lower than 5. Is there a 4? No, already
deleted. Is there a 3? Yes. OK, delete 3.

That's a bit on messaging. Feel free to ask me with further
questions.
