Code maintenance update, and bugs.

As I announced here in post 2245, the Weaver and I have been busy with
code maintenance in the background lately, bringing very large amounts
of older code up to date with current standards and practices. While
ultimately, the changes we're making will result in a smoother-running
Achaea, right now the changes should largely be invisible to you.

Lamentably, there is one way in which the changes will manifest in your
experience - bugs. With the amount of code we're changing, some
undesirable results are likely to arise in unexpected ways. A number
have already been found and resolved, both on the test server and on
here. You can help us find and squash more, by being sure to report with
the BUG command anything that isn't working as it should - especially if
it involves an untrapped error message. Thanks in advance!

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Aeguary, in the year 417 AF.
