Huge ripples in the Weave!

First, an apology - we're sorry we've not provided much of a good
IC explanation for what we're about to announce. We are in the midst
of other preparations which severely limit our freedom to dote upon
this new addition with the attention we'd prefer to. So we beg of you
all to maximise your 'suspension of disbelief' and fill in the gaps
as you are able. Or as one of my favourite quotes of all time puts it:
Just have fun with it!
--
Today, in an unparalleled and largely inexplicable event of apparently
titanic proportions, numerous Achaeans discovered without warning that
they were able to speak in heretofore unknown languages.
Yes, representatives of the Human, Satyr, Siren, and Atavian races
were seen babbling wildly amongst their respective racial groups in
their newly-discovered racial languages!
How might this have occurred? What does this portend? The mystery
remains unsolved.
Penned by my hand on the 5th of Scarlatan, in the year 377 AF.
