As some of you have probably guessed, a formal riding system will soon
be introduced. It will be a general skill that everybody gets, like
Survival or Vision. Within the skill will be a number of abilities that
you can perform mounted, and abilities that give you the ability to ride
higher and higher level mounts.

With the introduction of this system, we're also making many things not
work while mounted. We debated about this for quite some time, but in
the end, even though everything in Achaea doesn't HAVE to make sense
when thought of visually, we just couldn't stomach the idea of allowing
things like tumble or tekura stances to work while mounted. We realize
that's not going to make riding all that popular with certain classes
(particularly monks and druids, since grove abilities will not work
while mounted.) and we do apologize to disappointed members of those
classes, but from a roleplaying perspective, we just couldn't bring
ourselves to allow it.

Oh, and to those of you who have bought pets with the mounted ability, I
will refund you the prices of the mounted and flight (if you have it)
abilities on your pets, if you wish. Do wait until the riding skill
comes out before you make a decision though, as mountable pets work the
same as mounts from the riding skill.
