We've empowered the Ministry of Development, and given responsibilities
to the Ministry of Trade (about damn time too, no?) HELP DEVELOPMENT and
HELP TRADE will show you their new powers, which boil down to:
TRADE:
As city governments now have a need for commodities, Trade sets the
price that your city will buy particular comms at, sets the price that
the city will sell comms to the public at, and sets the internal price
for other Ministries to buy comms for their use.
DEVELOPMENT:
Develops subdivisions, which is where houses in the new housing system
will be. Basically, you're fitting together tiles like on the Wilderness
Map, but the cities themselves define how the subdivisions look. We
think it's a pretty cool idea.
We're going to have to go through and establish subdivisions for each of
the five cities. We'll probably give each city one subdivision initially
(location will be chosen in conjunction with city government), but
there's no reason cities can't have multiple subdivisions, and we intend
on letting cities have new subdivisions for a price.
After the actual housing system is coded (which we will begin
immediately), you'll be able to buy rooms on the subdivisions (called
'plots') at prices the city will set, and then build a house on that
plot of land. There's more to it of course, but I don't want to give
away the surprises now.
Penned by my hand on the 21st of Sarapin, in the year 313 AF.
