Full Disclosure, I did not write this. This was sent to me by a professional scholar of the Targie way. I dabble in more fun things, like if you were to smash a group of Targies into a pool of liquid you would get Targiesauce. This is well above my expertise and I am just a vessel to deliver such a profound understanding of what a Targie is. Enjoy
Truth.
This is something that Targies often fail to see. They
lipservice their ways yet do not adhere to them. This is whether it is
the Scroll of Innocence near the Targossian gates or even something more
mundane as hunting down those who break laws yet expecting to be able to
break the same laws themselves. Often they protest when faced with the
reality of their actions.
Attitude.
A Targie often preaches humility yet they see highly of
themselves. They speak of how forgiveness and redemption can be had yet
often cast judgement readily upon others. This attitude can, of course,
cause even the most stalwart to falter. What can be done is simply
ignore them. Do not let their attitude cause you dismay. Rather,
continue to remain calm. In time, they will see that you are not being
bothered and will either cease or perhaps even cry. If they do the
latter, boil the tears for salt. It is a good seasoning.
Reason.
Targies often fail to respond well to this. If they did so,
then it would mean that they would have to accept the errors of their
ways and possibly even change them. What must be done is mitigate the
damage they do. This is done by opening the eyes of their followers by
presenting evidence about how the Targgie really is.
Gratitude.
Targies often have a very difficult time with this. The
simple words of "Thank you" seem to fade when they search for it. Oh,
they may toss them out as bones before a dog but they often continue
expecting even more of you. To this end, you may feel as if they are
either micromanaging or attempting to use you. The best way to deal with
this aspect of their personalities is to say one thing the next time
they request something of you. "No."
Glib.
A Targie often has a glib tongue. They may seek to override the
minds of those they are around with a plethora of verbiose words so they
may appear to be far more and above what they are in actuality (see what
I did there?). They may loudly espouse their own ways yet freely insult
anyone else. They may use a variety of insults and other such things.
The best way to deal with this is to simply, once again, ignore them.
Their words are as air. Allow it to pass you by.
Intelligence.
Some Targies are rather intelligent. Yet there are some
for whom their advancement is blocked by their ability to adapt to new
information. Instead of remaining where they are and seeking to improve,
they constantly get dismayed, faint of heart, and move to wherever the
next person pandering to their ego is. If one happens to leave the group
you are with, be grateful and move on.
Ego.
This is a very important aspect of a Targie. Ego. They are very
narcissitic in nature, seeing themselves as of utmost importance. While
they may profess to hold another dearer and more closely to them than
themselves, observe what happens when the one they hold dear does
something unfathomable...such as disagree or upset. Then, unless an
apology is directly forthcoming, the insults will flow as water from a
waterfall. If this happens to you, remember that the world does not
revolve around any one person. It involves many who work together to
make things happen. In the end, one person can fade...yes, even a
Targie...and civilization will keep going on.
