Just one man's opinion!

Howdy, Shirszae!

I'm not much to speak of, these days; I am neither Senator nor Shieldlord (or both, as the current political climate happens to be). However, since your apology was addressed to the whole of Cyrene, I think that a reply from someone who did not believe you had Cyrene's best interests at heart before the tsol'teth invasion may be helpful.

Frankly speaking, I don't hate you. I believe that you are genuinely contrite in your desire to return to the fold; beyond the actions resulting in your current Treason charge, you haven't taken any other actions that would result in an enemy charge. I believe that, were you to return to the city, there would even be some in the upper echelons of my House and city who would embrace you with open arms. I believe that you would once again be an asset to Cyrene's military, and once again be a colossal headache for anyone who doesn't want us to raid every city who so much as sneezes on them (though some deserve as much, more than others).

I believe that forgiving someone who is sincere in their search for redemption, and giving them the opportunity for such redemption, is the Cyrenian thing to do; however, I also believe that to forgive you would mean that I have no reason to avoid forgiving others: the Targossans, the Hashani, and even the Mhaldorians who are similarly genuine in their wish for goodwill towards The Last City.

Were I Emperor and Tyrant of Cyrene, I would not pardon you until the city is restored, until the city-states who betrayed Sapience have been forgiven, and Cyrene returns to the state it was before the occupation. I would also be taking steps to make these things a reality.

I wish you well in the days to come.

Algiz Protect,
Bronislav Zviera

P.S. I would be earnestly surprised if many Senators respond to you in this forum; the notion of forgiveness towards anyone involved with the tsol'teth mess is, as of now, political voyria to anyone who has sought to change the city in response to the occupation.

Penned by my hand on the 14th of Daedalan, in the year 822 AF.
