Combat has been an important and valued art of Sapience since its prehistory, from the earliest wars between Ashtan and Shallam to the skilled duelists of the Modern Age.

Many throughtout history have been captured by the accounts of the legendary fights between the likes of Lucaine Pyramides and Trenton Deis, or Catarin DeSangre and Lord Odysseus Rani, battles remembered not only because of their historical importance or skill of the fighters, but the techniques displayed and recorded so that they could be appreciated for all time.

However, perhaps particularly in this modern age of lightning fast duels, reflexes, and enchanted arenas, there are times when the singular focus on killing can distract from the artistry of our skills and of fighting itself. And while many fighters might take the time to practice their own unqiue styles, it's rare that there is a chance to put that style itself on display.

On this historic anniversary, we want celebrate the continent's long traditions of fighting, and give a chance to celebrate the more artistic side of the many combat styles adventurers have mastered.

And so, the Seleucarian Games will be holding The Tournament of the Unbroken, a ritual combat exhibition and tournament designed to display the artistry and style of fighting.

For anyone unfamiliar, the art of ritual combat is a relatively new one to the lands, but has taken its spot as an important variant of combat to express both a more creative and cerebral style of conflict. The Tournament of the Unbroken will be following the traditions of ritual combat developed and practiced by the Carmine Circle.

In short, a ritual duel requires but two fighters and an arbiter to officiate, as both participants attempt to outwit and out manoeuvre each other through a series of rounds, using whatever they have at hand to attack, defend, or break their opponent's guard. Further details can be found by referencing the TCCIRCLE clan, or by speaking to any duelist or arbiter listed therein.

Now, for the details of the tournament:

The Tournament of the Unbroken, named for our continued resistance in these troubled times, will be celebrated throughout the rest of the Games, bringing together talented champions from every city to display their skills and style.

Signups for the tournament will run two months from the date of this post, until early [insert month here]. We are looking to take a champion from each city and rogues, though if there is more interest, we may adjust as needed.

The Tournament of the Unbroken will be held in a single elimination format. Preliminary rounds will be held throughout the rest of the year, to give everyone a chance to witness some of them, before building to a tournament finale held near the end of the year, to see who emerges the victor in the semifinal and final rounds, proving both their wits and aplomb.

If you are interested in taking part, please let me know with a message or a tell! And for everyone else, we hope that you will come to observe the proceedings and cheer for your favoured. No tournament is complete without a crowd to cheer, bet, and comment, and so the bigger the audience, the better it will be!

Ever Loyal,
Keorin, Commander of the Vashnars
