You are getting on the nerves of a lot of people, I am sure. Maybe you should just deal with the fact that people will always kill mobiles, even if they are meant for quest. If you find it dead, just do other stuff while waiting that the Bird ressurect.

Though if you accept giving your life in exchange of the Bird, probably most of those that are used to killing the Bird will stop.
