Submission #587: Artus Incursion (EYES ONLY)
Written by: Anonymous
Date: Monday, January 27th, 2025
Addressed to: Everyone
29 SOR 1599
FOR: Council Solarn, for advice to the Empire Ascendant
ATO: General Arkayn (Advanced Development), General Elthrote (Incarceration Reacquisition), Oracle Athynii (Temple)
FRO: Overlord Faras (Commander, Kalathak Fortress)
LOC: Kalathak Fortress, Artus Province, Prime Material Plane.
EVE: Attempted incursion contiguous with medium-level security breach.
As previously alerted by our informant Dusk, over the course of the 26th this month an essence-wielder identified as "Haskor" attempted invasion of the Kalathak security fortress in province Artus of the Vertan Empire. Some casualties were recorded in the guard corps, including the destruction of one fortress tower.
Spirit of Sorathia's arrival provided a suitable test for General Arkayn's work under combat conditions, successfully breaching Haskor's protective fire substrate despite its subsequent failure. Meteoric strikes were drawn from orbit to render additional offence while the arcanum was renewed.
Haskor subsequently fled the scene to parts unknown. In accordance with policy regarding essence-wielders, as set by the Ascendant Solarn and Imperial Oracles, we declined pursuit. Since damage was in excess of what the informant suggested Haskor's capabilities predicted, however, the reward was rescinded and Dusk placed in custody. It unfortunately expired under questioning.
Concurrently with Haskor's incursion, a breach occurred in the medium-security wing (Block D) of the fortress gaol. Evidence collected from the scene revealed infiltration by approximately six unique individuals, likely originating from a world of benign climate.
Escapees at large:
1) Death Knight. Refused to identify herself. Enhanced interrogation previously failed to extract usable information regarding the destruction of our colony on Sieta Prime.
2) Type IV thoughtform mnemovore. Identified as Harrow and One-Of-Many. Further identities unknown. Capability limits unknown. Capacity limits unknown. Enhanced interrogation ineffective. Isolation ineffective. Oracular command ineffective. Previously recommended for transfer to maximum security, postponed owing to rapid-onset insanity in the transporting guards.
3) Class B undead. Identified as Teneb from claimed House Trismegistus. Captured and charged four centuries prior with trespassing in the Council chambers of Vertan. Scheduled for transfer to psychiatric care prior to exodus, owing to degradation of intelligence via mana loss.
Evidence from the scene indicates a sentience experiment (cerebrospore infestation) by the outlawed Sevens Cult was released and terminated by persons unknown.
RECOMMENDATIONS
For the attention of the Council and Ascendant, I once again recommend relocating our incarceration centres to more inhospitable climates than Artus. While the homeworld is prohibited from such development by Imperial edict, I have attached a list of suitable planes and planets within the borders of the Empire.
For the attention of General Arkayn, the arcanum on the Spirit of Sorathia proved of surpassing promise despite technical difficulties, and I support any request to the Daq for fleet-wide retrofits.
For the attention of General Elthrote, I recommend reacquisition of the mnemovore with haste.

Summary: Overseer Faras reports on an incursion into the Kalathak Fortress, in which the lich Teneb was liberated from a four century incarceration.
