The Revelation of Karbaz

It was a normal mid-Daedalan day and Nissa, the Head Archivist of the
Lucretian Athenaeum, was sorting through the backlog of autobiographies
and memoirs in need of categorising. Behind a stack of Jaruvian fishing
diaries, the damsel was astonished to find a yellowed and crumbling
scroll unaccounted for by any of the Athenaeum's records. Quickly
summoning the Chroniclers of Lore Madelyne Varaeth'i and Azzad Ravenstar
to her, Nissa revealed the long-lost message:

We are betrayed!

The most deceitful Enuru has stolen the shard of Three Moons we
protect, slaying two of our fellows and disappearing into the night.
It seems he planned this since the beginning, when he started to earn
our trust two years ago. His patience made him dangerous, and we are
paying the price for our folly.

We received word that he has obtained passage on a ship with a group
called the Rhaan, and they have set sail to the northwest. Leitz is
securing us a ship of our own so that we may pursue them, but we must
hurry if we are to have any hope of catching Enuru.

If we have not returned successful within three years, you must
assume that we have failed and others must be sent to recover the
sacred blade.

Akarat

The Chroniclers eagerly began making plans to set sail after a month of
preparation and bade Nissa farewell, but their strategy was interrupted
when a hooded thief snatched the historical discovery right from the
Archivist's hands. Through unknown channels and shady dealings, the
scroll found its way into the possession of Bradgur Ogrefist, and was
then exchanged for a tidy sum of gold to Mosr Gothfraidh. Sadly, rough
handling and mistreatment of the delicate scroll led to its demise, but
not before Mosr and his allies had studied its words and largely
unhelpful map.

By this time, Nissa had shared with the assembled Chroniclers and other
concerned passers-by the theft of the scroll and its surprising
contents. Thus began a race of ships from all over Sapience, seeking out
the path of the two lost ships. Among the explorers were Captains
Logistics Ta'sa of The Dipping Dragon, Delphinus Windancer of The Queen
Himalia, Kresslack De'Verres of Shadow Emissary, Ellodin Longshanks of
The Hokulea, and Azzad Ravenstar of The Exiled Star; as well, their
passengers and crews.

It was The Hokulea that first came upon the forested island of Karbaz
far off the northwestern coast of Sapience. There, Ellodin, Naisar
Haole, and Brother Eldin were the first strangers to set foot upon the
island in centuries. As other ships arrived, the newcomers met the
Kirlundin who had left the note so long ago, as well as their foe Enuru.

Penned by My hand on the 1st of Scarlatan, in the year 537 AF.
