Nearly five years ago, the whole of Achaea was in uproar as thoughts of
love and romance inexplicably filled the air. Merentesh of Delos dropped
the price of chocolate boxes and flowerpots for an entire month,
encouraging romancers to woo their beloved with sweet delights. One
wandering minstrel reported an overwhelming quantity of commissions to
serenade the objects of many adventurers' affections.

Around the same time, a small group of New Therans was preparing to
leave their comfortable inland town for a fresh start by the sea. For
several years Galeria, one of the few survivors of the Kashari raid upon
Shastaan, had been residing in the town with relatives, but had recently
made up her mind to return to her home. As she made her farewells she
found herself joined by new friends and old, all looking for a change of
scene, and the group cheerfully made their way across the continent to
the eastern shore of Sapience, where Shanugis welcomed the newcomers to
his village.

Word of the new arrivals somehow reached the ears of the Miscuri,
devoted followers of Lady Pandora, who could not resist the opportunity
to stir things up in light of the month's ongoing events. In due time
the well water in Shastaan became curiously tasty and sweet-smelling,
and all who passed by seemed to pair up and disappear behind locked
doors within minutes of taking a drink!

Whatever the cause, it appears the new settlers of Shastaan have taken
their mission of reviving the once-ruined village to heart, as young
children now outnumber the adults in town.
