Merrygold, the elder of the halfling village in Actar, arrived in Cyrene
exhausted and frightened. Who could help her? Two young men named
Barrien and Diomante stood at the city crossroads, giants in the elder's
eyes, but would they be enough?
More citizens began to arrive as, gasping for breath, Merrygold told of
a cyclops that had found its way into their valley. Fleeing their homes,
the frightened halflings had barricaded the entrance to the village,
trapping the cyclops within. With mounting concern, she confessed that
one of the halfling children had been left behind in the village and
they feared for her safety. Led by Senator Goryllin, the party of
Seldan, Barrien, Oseji, Friztic, Vindur, Sanaki, Beorji, Naeria, Branak,
Gremin, Ephram, Kairuni, and Brubeck prepared to travel to Actar to
confront the cyclops.
Upon arriving at the valley, the sound of the halfling girl's death was
resonant among those attuned to the mind of Thoth. Breaking through the
barricade which stood between the villagers and the cyclops, the party
advanced and the culprit was quickly dispatched by Ephram Sparrow. The
victory was short-lived, however, and Ephram's brow furrowed as the
party came to the realisation that the slain cyclops was only a young
girl from the nearby settlement at Mount Piraeus.
The death of the cyclops child had reached her mother's mind, and the
grieving woman soon appeared in the diminutive village. Accusations were
flung back and forth as halfling and cyclops alike cast blame upon the
other for the tragic events. Tensions rose until soon all were embroiled
in a heated battle as Arges, chieftain of the cyclopes, descended from
Mount Piraeus with an entourage of warriors.
In defence of the small halflings, adventurers swept through the valley,
swiftly eradicating the threat and bringing the skirmish to a definitive
close. The grateful halflings were happy to return to their simple daily
lives, but surely some lingering tensions remain between the
neighbouring communities...
