Early this month, storms along the northern coast of Meropis triggered a
massive avalanche in the eastern reaches of the Vasnari mountain range.
Speculation attributes the weakened state of the range to the high
presence of magical activity in the area.

Dwarves from the remote mines of Iskadar appeared briefly following the
storm to investigate a series of earth tremors, presumably caused by the
landslide, but reported no damage beneath the surface. The avalanche is
responsible, however, for creating a pass through the mountains into the
eastern portion of the continent. Stumbling upon the small trail by
chance as she travelled through the mountains, the dragon Skylana de
Mercier became the first outsider in hundreds of years to traverse
beyond the Vasnari peaks and explore the fertile plains to their east.

The storm also had a minor impact on the geography of the ocean's floor,
calming a choppy section of water along the coast and enabling seafarers
to pass into the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Nilakantha.
