Tales of Arcadia: Return of the Skylord

And so began a plot for revenge. The pirates of Meropis and the dwarves
of Inbhir Ness pledged their support against the Tritons if an invasion
came to Arcadia, but this did little to sate Atoritha's fears. Allies
including Tharvis, Arelyn, Trenia, and Aaritrea were summoned to Arcadia,
where the Arcadian plan of a pre-emptive assault was revealed: surely
this would turn the odds in favour of the atavian race.

Word of the plan reached the ears of General Aeolia and the Nerai as
they slipped into the city, passing beneath the watch of the Arcadian
guard. Skye, Entaro, and other loyal servants of Neraeos made their way
to the Sky Tower, soon alerting Atoritha to their presence as they
wandered the palace.

A battle for the Sky Tower ensued, costing the lives of Atoritha, the
priestess Cassandra, and many members of both factions. As the last
Triton was slain the heavens rumbled with a voice filled with rage and
anger: that of Vastar, Lord of the Skies.

At His command, the city of Arcadia took flight, shifting from its spot
in the mountains toward the eastern seas, casting dark shadows across
Sapience during its journey and baffling adventurers above and below
before coming to a halt over a seemingly unimportant stretch of
doldrums.

The fears of the Nerai were realised as light began to coalesce around
the Sky Tower, its length illuminated by tendrils of pure white. A blast
of pure thunder cut a swathe through the water, revealing the
long-hidden city of Scyros, moments before engulfing its streets in a
destructive storm.

The assault continued until it reached the Temple of the Sea, leaving a
crater filled with the corpses of Triton men, women, and children in its
wake. In response, a hand of the tides arose from the turbulent ocean,
crushing the Tower with a grip parallel to the powerful force of the
seas themselves.

With the Gods of the Sky and Sea at an impasse, Arcadia returned to the
Vashnar mountains, trailing a foggy cloud of smoke behind it. Meeting
within the Siroccian peaks upon the sacred ground of the Shrine of
Ascension, Neraeos and Vastar agreed to resolve the conflict in the
fashion of more ancient times.

As agreed by the two gods, the war would halt for three years, allowing
the Skylord time to assemble champions for ritual combat and to spread
word of His return. And thus, with the rules of engagement set, the
great war between Neraeos and Vastar began.
