A Prayer to the Nature Spirits

Eleusians and their allies patrolled the island of Shala-Khulia
vigilantly over the following months, so when Ixtahuitl excitedly called
them to his cave in Valnuary, 491 AF, they did not have far to travel.
The shaman described with great clarity a vision where he perceived
himself praying to the nature spirits of Shala-Khulia before the frozen
brazier. In this vision, the spirits responded by overwhelming the
shrine with Nature's power, releasing Evil's grip on the land.

Taking the vision as a sign, the forestals rushed to return the melting
brazier to a dormant state. Then, under Ixtahuitl's instructions, they
kneeled, praying fervently to the island's spirits. In awe they observed
as vines spread along the marble walls, lush with verdant foliage, and
shifted its purpose from a shrine to glorify Evil to a celebration of
Nature. The brazier itself took on a cracked, corroded appearance,
damaged significantly by their efforts.

Thrilled at the progress they had made, the forestals rushed to Tu'liak
and the rebels, who mustered their strength, intent on removing the
Mhaldorian presence once and for all. They stormed the city, engaging
Mhaldorian soldiers as Tu'liak and his select warriors marched to the
temple in search of Da'an. Demanding an explanation and hoping for
repentance, Tu'liak asserted that the chieftan's actions made him unfit
to lead. The chieftan was unapologetic for his actions, claiming that
anyone would have done the same for their people, and that it was better
to live under Mhaldorian rule than die needlessly.

The chieftan's defense was not enough to placate Tu'liak, and amidst
pleas and protests he was dragged to the top of the temple. Under the
hot island sun, Da'an's heart was cut from his body in a gruesome
sacrifice, and Tu'liak was declared the new chieftan of Shala-Khulia.

In those final moments, the last threat to the jungles of Shala-Khulia
and the oppression of its people were chased from the island. A
revitalising energy pulsed through the jungle as the forestals
celebrated, relieved to finally see the end of such a bitter conflict.

The island is recovering from the intense hostilities, but the shrine
within its jungle still stands, and the ice atop the brazier still
cracks and melts from time to time. The priest Sevet remains, bound to
the very earth that he strived so hard to corrupt. The true consequences
of lighting the brazier are unknown, and it is only through the tireless
efforts of the forces of Nature that this knowledge remains concealed.
